DIY Holiday Tabletop Decor

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and the Christmas season is following closely behind. Naturally these two celebrations will bring family and friends together several times to share meals and just hang out with each other. What's a family gathering without some decor to be proud of, especially if you did all by yourself? Get into the season and show your festive spirit with these simple and inexpensive ideas. They can be placed on your dinner table, mantle, entrance or coffee table, or any area that works best for you.

Fill cloches with sparkly decorations and add some radiance.

From Martha Stewart Living

Add ribbon or cord accents (choose your own colour) to large candles and create crepe paper bells, use varying candlesticks accented with evergreens, or a combination of ivory and all white candles.

Fill a clear vase with white almonds and add a pop of brightly coloured carnation or other flower of your liking.

Invite some traditional Christmas colour in with red apples and green artichokes displayed in a jar or bowl. Or bowls of lemons and limes or any fruit that gives a lovely colour combination.

From Real Simple

Adorn the base of your floral centerpiece with slices of red and green apples. Dip the apple slices in vinegar to prevent them from turning brown.

Just love this one! Build a snowman with oranges. Stack the fruit together using toothpicks, Use cloves for the eyes, candy sticks for the arms and nose and licorice for the arms. The hat can be made using a small cookie for the brim and peppermints for the stack. Use frosting at the base of the oranges to keep your creation from toppling over and also at the base of the hat.

From Real Simple

Create rustic or vintage napkin rings with burlap accessorized with a button or use crepe paper with a sprig of flower. No sewing needed! (Just a little glue). Use your favourite colours.
