Is He/She The One?

6 Signs You've Found The Perfect Wedding Planner

Standing Woman Wearing White Long-sleeved Dress

With your wedding day fast approaching, you might need someone to give you some guidance in creating the perfect vision of what you dreamed your perfect day would be. A bride should not be pressured with every aspect and crucial element that goes into planning such a big event. You might want to consider hiring a wedding planner to help you fine tune the details. If you do decide to go that direction, here are six vital qualities to look for in your wedding planner:

1. They make you feel like the 'only one'.
With times being so fast paced, people are always in a hurry to get things done. When working with a planner, chances are you aren’t the only client and they have a million different things on their plate. However, if they make you feel like your wedding is top priority, have meetings that are in full detail of what you will need to accomplish before your big day, and speaks to you with the utmost interest and excitement for what’s to come, the chances are, this is the wedding planner for you .

2. Options, options, options.
We all know time is certainly not our friend during this process. There are things to do, vendors to choose and venues to book. If this particular planner is able to help you find multiple top notch vendors working within your budget and has a good working relationship with them, marry them too!

3. Your budget is their friend
The wedding industry is known to drill holes in the pockets of all its blind-sided victims with hidden costs lurking around every corner. If this wedding planner makes sticking to the budget an essential to planning your wedding, refraining from random additions to service fees or suggesting a budget increase then look no further.

4. A professional planner
Truth be told, there is a myriad of wedding planners out there with varying ranks in the business. It is crucial to judge a wedding planner, not by the time they’ve put in but by the quality of the events they’ve produced so far and the level of professionalism they bring to the table. Choose a planner who takes you and your wedding seriously and handles your big day like a pro, all while making you feel like you two have some sort of friendship. Ensure to choose a planner who is respectful and has a basic understanding of who you are and the boundaries not to cross.

5. Bailing or smooth sailing
Unfortunately, there are a lot of ingenuine proprietors trying to make a quick buck from unsuspecting clients. As soon as a deposit is made, the promises made are ‘null and void’. Choose a wedding planner who understands their obligation to providing what you paid for while still being willing to add a little pizzazz where needs be. A contract should also be compulsory in order to safeguard the proceedings of your big day. A planner with a plan, is a very good one indeed.

6.  A man or woman of high regard
If word on the street says this person is the best, there is then there’s no need to hesitate. Be sure to ask past clients and vendors if possible about this planner’s work, event planning skills, craft and how well they are able to give her clients the imagery of what was requested. Check social media pages, tags and testimonials as well and if everything checks out then seal the deal, cut a check and sign the dotted line.

Wedding Trends for the Jamaican Bride

Traditionally, the word “wedding”, conjures up thoughts of a bride in a long white gown with her face covered by a veil and a groom in a black tux. The wedding ceremony is usually held in a church and may only consist of a few guests selected by the bride and groom such as family members. The ceremony is then followed by a reception, usually held elsewhere, where additional guests are invited such as friends. Reception activities include the cutting of the cake, eating, dancing, the presentation of gifts and toasts to the newlyweds and so forth. Trends have, however, developed over the years and have contributed to wedding traditions being broken. Brides and grooms in Jamaica are quite on point in keeping up with the latest trends including these highlighted here.

Show a little skin
Laced and sheer wedding dresses have always been a hot trend but brides have become more and more confident in showing off much more than a little skin. A bride should, however, still keep it elegant and classy by not showing off too much of what may be considered "for the groom’s eyes only".

Go vintage
What better way to go than to go vintage? With the perfect theme, colors, flowers, décor, vintage-style cake and wedding dress and tux, you cannot go wrong with a vintage wedding. We just love the hanging light bulbs in this vintage set-up.

Colors Galore
Instead of sticking to common neutral colors, try brighter colors that complement each other without losing their elegance. Color-blocking is one of the coolest ways to achieve this.

Bridal Party
Who said the bridal party has to wear the same color or style? There is no harm in mixing it up. With the right mixture of the right colors and style, this can definitely work.

Have your cake and eat it too
Wedding cakes have certainly become fancier and more exquisite. Instead of the plain old white fondant decorated cake, why not try something new? There are options such as a metallic cake, sprinkle wedding cake or even a naked caked (sans fondant) to go with that special outdoor vintage wedding. These cakes look great and still taste great, so who said you couldn’t have your cake and eat it too?

Hope you enjoyed these!
